i follow a lot of people on facebook who seem to get their pictures and posts deleted…quite often actually. almost daily i see a comment about how facebook admin took down a picture, or banned someone from signing into their account for a week because they broke facebook rules. and the people and organizations and pages i follow on facebook aren’t getting slapped on their wrists because they are being rude. or immodest. or promoting illegal activity. (all of which don’t seem to get deleted!) but they are just regular people posting things having to do with the birth and parenting process. just posting pictures of a placenta is grounds for facebook to ban you for a bit. and let’s not go near the topic of breastfeeding, because that’s a pretty automatic ban. yet you can receive pornographic friend requests daily and nothing is done.
makes sense, right?
well, how does this picture of a baby make you feel? yes, the baby is alive, and yes the baby is just seconds old. all of which were made clear. this is a rare and beautiful sneak peak into the lives of our littles when they are on the inside. this just happens to be on the outside!
i posted this picture last night that was linked to this birth story. i think it’s amazing. this is a twin preemie baby who was born in her amniotic sac. what a RARE glimpse into the lives of our babies while they are in the womb- on the outside! we can see how protected baby is inside that sac, and how cuddled up within themselves they are. safe. secure. what an amazing transition into the world for this little one. and this was from a surgical birth, which is extra rare for such care and precision to be taken to allow this to happen. it is possible in vaginal births as well, much less likely at a hospital though. i just wanted to share because i think it’s just incredible. mind blowing to see, on the outside, what baby’s life is like in there! it was deleted by the time i woke up. with a generic accompanying email saying that the content of the post was graphic. i was surprised but not surprised.
i don’t want to rock anyone’s boat or make anyone feel uncomfortable with the content that they see on their newsfeed (well, i do in many ways, but not in a harmful way), but i see this is a teaching moment. this is life. it’s biology. it’s creation. it’s reverent. the more we push things like this away the more we push away our relationship with our humanity. at least in my opinion. but heck, throw some spamming friend pages and more pictures of people engaging in illicit behaviors my way, facebook. that will teach us all what is more important and relevant, right?
I think this picture is amazing. I have no other words! Amazing!!!
I have parallel sentiments, regarding your ban on Facebook, although I haven’t been banned. I choose to walk away and have a new account with family and friends only, just to keep in touch.
Facebook is sterile place, another distraction much like television and other types of media. Everyone on their is encouraged to make only “happy posts”, like this or that. It’s a market to sell products and any human element is mocked, that is unless its able to able to bring the right attention from a massive group of emotionally stipend people. It’s what they want us to be, confused so they’ll (markets) can have us at their whim.
You are right, there’s so much that needs to be questioned. Just need to wake the others up if we want to save humanity from caving in.
Good for you. Keep going with it.
I’m glad you shared this photo! I think it’s beautiful and precious. Sorry it was removed from FB. And yeah…..with as much worthless junk as I see on FB, it is pretty pathetic that a photo of a sweet baby in its first cosy home is considered graphic. I could take a few guesses as to why a photo such as this one would make the majority of people nervous and unhappy….but I don’t wanna open that can of worms. Again, thanks for sharing this.
as of today 11/29/2012 i just saw this pic on facebook.. and it really caught my attention because i was also born inside the “water bag” my mom said the doctor placed it on top of her stomach and called other doctors to come see cause they never seen anything like that.. im 26 yesrs old now meaning i was born in the year 1986 and my mom didnt take any pictures.. so it was nice to see how i kinda looked when i was born..
I saw this picture on fb last night and thought it was amazing. I went back this evening to have another look at it and couldn’t find it. Really can’t understand why something like this should be banned. Good for you for making this known 🙂
I think this is normal part of life. Gods creation. I am surprised that Facebook took this down but people can post pictures of purely naked women or better yet, post a picture of a man having oral sex with a woman. THANK you for attempting to show the world where each of us came from. This a amazing!

This to me is very special, given that 8 months ago I gave birth to my little girl still in her sac. It was a very special moment to me and my husband. My delivery Doctor told me that this was very rare, also being a natural birth.
